Fotolane started in 2023 as an internal tool for a photo archive that had outgrown its own hosting. It does one job: take an image once and give it back in whatever shape a page needs.
We keep the surface small on purpose. There is no dashboard builder, no asset manager and no plugin marketplace — an upload endpoint, a transform grammar in the URL, and an edge cache in front of both. Everything else belongs in your application.
The service is operated by a two-person team from Tallinn. Storage lives in Estonia; delivery is handled by regional edge partners so that images land close to the people looking at them.
